Daycroft's "Tiny Explorer Event" at My Urban Toddler

Daycroft Montessori School Introduces Young Children and Their Parents to the World's Cultures in Fun and Educational Activities Hosted by My Urban Toddler

Ann Arbor, MI (March 20, 2009) – Last Saturday, March 14, Daycroft Montessori School of Ann Arbor welcomed young families and expecting families – over 60 guests in all – to its first annual "Tiny Explorer Event" hosted by My Urban Toddler, the just-for-families play space, store, cafe, and learning center in Pittsfield Township near Saline.

The Tiny Explorer Event took young children and their parents on a mini-tour of the world's continents. Different areas of My Urban Toddler represented North America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Antarctica, South America, and Australia.

Daycroft teachers prepared fun crafts and activities to introduce children to the world's distinctive cultures. Examples included grinding coffee (South America), playing drums (Africa), and a tea party (Europe). Children also enjoyed puzzles, games, and other Montessori-style educational "works."

The Tiny Explorer Event introduced families to My Urban Toddler, while giving parents a chance to observe the Daycroft educational approach in action. The school blends the distinctive student-centered teaching methods of Maria Montessori with traditional and progressive teaching methods. Daycroft thus accomplishes its educational mission: to provide a personalized learning environment that appreciates individual differences, nurtures the whole child, and enables students to develop at their own pace and achieve to their full potential.

The Tiny Explorer Event ran from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Cost to attend was $5 per person. This included a pizza dinner for all guests.
