Daycroft Montessori School Offers 2011 Summer Camps for Children from Preschool Age to Grade 6

Ann Arbor, MI (April 1, 2011) – Children from preschool age to upper-elementary will explore and discover, think and do, create and play – and just plain have fun – at the summer day camps offered this year by Daycroft Montessori School of Ann Arbor.

Daycroft will hold 10 weeks of summer day camps for children from kindergarten through grade 6 at the school’s Elementary Campus at 1095 N. Zeeb Rd. The camps will focus on everything from cooking, gardening, fishing, and crafts to painting, sculpting, music, literature, sports, and nature.

Elementary-age campers can also learn about other countries and cultures. Favorite activities include LEGO engineering, theater camp, and tours of Ann Arbor attractions and landmarks.

Summer camps at the Elementary Campus will begin the week of June 13-17 and end the week of August 22-26, with a weeklong break for the Independence Day holiday, July 4-8. Camps are Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 4:15 pm. Before-school care is free of charge for one hour before camp.

For children of age 3 to entering kindergarten, Daycroft will offer summer day camps at the school’s Preprimary Campus at 100 E. Oakbrook Dr. Play-based activities range from art and science to sports and games. Each week’s camp has a specific theme; they include: Space Camp, Surfin’ USA (water fun), It’s a Jungle Out There! (animal kingdom), Treasure Quest, Wild West, and more.

At the Preprimary Campus, parents can choose from half-day camps (8:30 am to 11:30 am) and full-day camps (8:30 am to 3:30 pm), Monday through Friday. Camps there run for nine weeks, from June 13-17 to August 15-19, with a break for the week of July 4-8.

Camps at both Daycroft campuses are open to all children, whether or not they attend the school during the regular school year.

Parents may register their children for one week of camp, a few weeks, or the entire summer. Selected camps have a two-week minimum.
