“Montessori Fundays” to Provide a Taste of Daycroft’s Personalized Learning
Daycroft Montessori School of Ann Arbor Will Offer Introductory Lessons for Children of Ages 18 Months to Three Years This Fall
Ann Arbor, MI (June 1, 2011) – Open enrollment began today for the fall 2011 series of “Montessori Fundays” at Daycroft Montessori School of Ann Arbor.
Montessori Fundays is a continuing program introducing parents and their children ages 18 months to three years to the highly personalized approach to learning at Daycroft Montessori School of Ann Arbor.
On Montessori Fundays, a Daycroft teacher guides children through introductory lessons using Montessori materials. “This gives parents a real sense of the Daycroft educational approach in action,” said Michele Buchanan, Daycroft’s director of preprimary education. “Parents can see how learning can be fun and effective when their young child, guided by our teachers, makes choices about what he or she learns.”
Twice per Week for Five or Six Weeks
A Fundays program consists of two lessons per week. Parents can choose from Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays, for either five or six weeks, depending on the season.
All lessons take place from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Daycroft’s Preprimary Campus at 100 E. Oakbrook Dr., in the Briarwood Mall area.
Daycroft will offer five-week Fundays programs in early fall, beginning the week of September 12 and ending the week of October 12. Then the school will hold six-week Fundays programs in late fall, beginning the week of October 24 and ending the week of December 12.
In the late-fall programs, there will be no lessons during the week of November 21-25, taking a break for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The cost is $200 for a five-week program (10 lessons in all) or $240 for a six-week program (a total of 12 lessons). A single lesson costs $22.
After the New Year, Daycroft will pick up with Fundays programs for the winter, midwinter, and spring seasons. Exact dates are to be announced.
Alert: Fundays Fill Quickly
Daycroft has held seasonal Montessori Fundays series since fall 2010. “The program has been very successful,” said Buchanan. “Many parents have re-enrolled their children for multiple series.”
Getting an early taste of the Montessori educational approach can help smooth the transition to a Montessori preschool for a young student. As Buchanan noted, “Several students who have participated in Montessori Fundays here earlier this year are now enrolled to begin preschool at Daycroft this fall.”
Open enrollment for Montessori Fundays in fall was preceded by in-house enrollment for students who attended previous Fundays sessions or who are siblings of current Daycroft students.
Parents who are interested in enrolling their children are advised to act quickly. “This is a popular program,” says Buchanan. “It fills quickly.”
