Daycroft Montessori School to Host Reading Skills Program This Summer

Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes Will Hold Intensive Clinic at Daycroft’s Elementary School Campus on Zeeb Road from June 15 to August 21

Ann Arbor, MI (June 2, 2009) – Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes (www.lindamoodbell.com), an internationally recognized leader in literacy research, remediation, and professional development, will provide special reading instruction this summer at a seasonal intensive learning clinic hosted by Daycroft Montessori School of Ann Arbor.

The summer instruction will be available in both morning and afternoon sessions from June 15 through August 21 at Daycroft’s Elementary School campus at 1095 N. Zeeb Rd.

Lindamood-Bell’s instruction develops the underlying skills necessary for reading, spelling, and comprehension, and has been shown to be effective for individuals with learning difficulties including those previously diagnosed with the symptoms of dyslexia, hyperlexia, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorders.

“Our programs develop a person’s sensory connection to language,” says Joel Cheney, Lindamood-Bell’s center director for the seasonal intensive learning clinic. “We focus on process-based, intensive instruction, rather than content-based, subject-specific tutoring. The methods we use change the way students learn to read words and process information, which can make a significant difference in an individual’s learning in a relatively short time period.”

Diane Mukkala, Daycroft’s head of school, adds, “Lindamood-Bell programs have changed the lives of so many students. We are excited for the Ann Arbor community to have the opportunity to be a part of that success.”

Lindamood-Bell is now accepting students interested in summer instruction. Individuals can call Joel Cheney at (248) 723-5380 for more information, or contact him by email at annarborinfo@lblp.com.
