Daycroft Montessori School Inspires “Green” Artists at Ann Arbor Summer Art Fairs

Ann Arbor, MI (July 18, 2009) – This week at the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fairs, students and teachers from Daycroft Montessori School helped the fairs’ attendees explore their inner Picassos, Michelangelos, and Monets – while, in the process, providing added appreciation for the environmentally helpful uses of recycling.

At Daycoft’s area in the Imagination Station (the children’s area on the north end of the Ingalls Mall lawn, near Washington Street), Art Fair attendees of ages 1 to 100 used recycled materials of all kinds to create “green” art masterpieces.

Well, if not masterpieces, at least fun and personally expressive works.

Daycroft students and teachers were on hand at the Imagination Station from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on each day of the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fairs, July 15-18, 2009.

The “green” art station provided an opportunity to observe Daycroft’s educational approach in action. Daycroft Montessori School blends the distinctive student-centered teaching methods of Maria Montessori with traditional and progressive teaching methods. Daycroft thus accomplishes its educational mission: to provide a personalized learning environment that appreciates individual differences, nurtures the whole child, and enables students to develop at their own pace and achieve to their full potential.
