Resource Fair Introduces University of Michigan Graduate Students and Their Children to Daycroft Montessori School
Ann Arbor, MI (October 31, 2009) – Daycroft Montessori School of Ann Arbor today participated in the third annual Graduate Parent Resource Fair, an informative and helpful event open to all University of Michigan graduate students with children.
The Resource Fair introduced U-M graduate students to local family-oriented businesses and organizations, while providing fun for their children. This year, many of the children’s activities were Halloween-themed, in keeping with the date of the event. Activities ran from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on the fourth floor of the Rackham Building on U-M’s main campus.
Daycroft teachers and administrators were on hand in three areas of the Resource Fair, where they answered parents’ questions about the school, and guided children’s participation in arts and crafts, games, and other fun.
The children, who generally ranged from two to five years of age, created Halloween face masks in one Daycroft-led activity, while making trick-or-treat bags elsewhere at the Resource Fair. Children also explored some the Montessori materials used in Daycroft classrooms.
In addition to Daycroft, other area businesses and organizations contributing to the Resource Fair included the Ann Arbor District Library, First Steps, My Urban Toddler, U-M Financial Aid/Child Care Subsidy, U-M Museum of Natural History, U-M Work/Life, Mothers & More, Leslie Science Center, and others.
