Meet Seth Kopald, Daycroft's Head of School

Dr. Seth W. Kopald, Daycroft's Head of School, earned a B.A. in English and a secondary teaching certificate from Michigan State University in 1992. He then received his Montessori Primary Training from the Montessori Institute Northwest (www.montessori-nw.org), an Association Montessori Internationale (www.montessori-ami.org) training program in Oregon, followed by a Master of Education degree in Montessori Education from Loyola University, Maryland. Most recently, Dr. Kopald completed his Ph.D. studies in Organization Management, with specialization in Leadership, from Capella University.

Dr. Kopald was born and raised in Southfield, Michigan. After graduating from MSU, he lived for 10 years in Oregon, then moved to Ann Arbor in 2002, to bring his daughter Ahava, now 13, closer to her grandparents. In 2004, his son Levi, now 9, was born.

Previously Dr. Kopald served as a Montessori teacher at the Corvallis Montessori School in Corvallis, Oregon; an instructor in early childhood education at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon; an education manager for a large Migrant Head Start program in Portland, Oregon; and a national consultant for Migrant Head Start. His role, just previous to joining Daycroft, was managing a team of early childhood education consultants for Migrant Head Start.
