Parents: Enjoy Flexible Scheduling for Your Preschool Children at Daycroft

child playing at daycroftBeginning with the 2009-10 school year, parents of preschool children at Daycroft Montessori School's Preprimary School on Oakbrook Drive will be able to arrange a flexible schedule for their children, mixing half-day and full-day sessions, as needed.

A child can, for example, attend a Daycroft preschool classroom for the full day on certain days of the week, and for a half day on other days. Daycroft allows a preschool child to attend from one to four full-day sessions during any given five-day school week.

Parents can pre-arrange the mix of full days and half days for every week of the entire school year, or for just a few weeks or months at a time. They can also adjust the mix of full days and half days from week to week, as their changing schedules demand.

Parents will be allowed to modify their preschool child's schedule for an upcoming week by letting Daycroft know of the change at any time during the week before.

"Our goal," said Michele Buchanan, principal of Daycroft's preprimary school, "is to give parents as much flexibility as possible in fitting their children's preschool schedule to their own work schedules and personal schedules. This is especially important in an age when, in many households, both parents work outside the home, and not always on the same days of the week or during the same times of day."
