Scan this list of Daycroft special events to get an idea of the fun and rewarding activities going on practically any time of year at our school. Please note that not all of these events may happen every year, and that there are sure to be new events and activities added. The items below are listed alphabetically. Please consult our online school calendar for the latest updated dates, times, and locations.

All School Picnic – end of summer
Enjoy a fun afternoon with other families as the children play with their new classmates on the front lawn and school playgrounds. Bring your own lunch and plates, and the dessert is provided by the Parent Guild. No admission fee. Desserts are requested of parents. Volunteer needed to organize desserts. Volunteers needed to man dessert table.
Welcome Back – First Day of School
Get the year off on the right foot by stopping in the conference room for some refreshments and a good chat about the year ahead. Refreshments offered while new parents get acquainted with returning parents. It’s fun to catch up on the summer’s activities and wonder about the year ahead! Volunteer needed to organize refreshments, as well as set up and clean up.
Fall Social Book Fair
Have fun at this family carnival and book fair event held in September. Bounce houses, games, and donuts & cider are just a few of the activities. Book Fair – One Night Only. No admission fee. Volunteer needed to organize Book Fair. Volunteers needed to set up, clean up, and man cash registers at Book Fair. Volunteer needed to organize Fall Social. Volunteers needed to man games, bounce houses, and snack table at Fall Social.
The children celebrate Halloween with all of their classmates in the totally transformed Zeeb campus. Activities include: Arts & Crafts, Science Experiments, MidWay Games, Magician, Dance Floor. A Ball Pit and other age appropriate activities are available for toddlers and Preschoolers. Light dinner provided. Pre-registration is encouraged. Tickets may be purchased at the door. (all inclusive). Volunteers needed for multiple facets of Monster Mash. Sign-ups are requested prior to event.
Roller Skating Night – November
What better way to expose your inner child than to go roller skating! Show your kids how it’s done when you take to the floor in your rented roller skates (or blades) and harken back to your younger years. Bring your own roller or inline skates. 2 Hour Event. Purchase tickets at door (includes skate rental, and slice of pizza & drink). No volunteers needed.
Help Daycroft give back to the community. The Parent Guild will choose a local charity to give to those in need around the Holiday Season. Oakbrook Campus donates hats & mittens; Zeeb Campus typically adopts multiple families. No volunteers needed.
Everyone is invited to join us at Colonial Lanes in January for an afternoon of Bowling & Pizza! Whether it’s your first time or 21st time, it’s always fun to bowl with friends! The bumpers are up on all alleys so there aren’t any gutter balls and all ages can attend. Early Registration and Ticket Purchase Required – fee includes 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental for all bowlers, 2 slices of pizza and unlimited drinks. Volunteer needed to organize Bowling Event.
Straight From The Heart Week
Parent Guild celebrates Valentine’s Day by showing our love to a local charity. This is a weeklong event collecting new and gently used requested donations. Oakbrook Campus typically chooses an animal charity; Zeeb Campus has open choice of local charities. No volunteers needed.
March is Reading Month
The Parent Guild supports the Media Center to celebrate the nationally recognized March is Reading Month. Students are encouraged to read during the month of March, and the minutes are recorded by students and their parents each week on sheets sent home prior to the event. The Librarian tallies the minutes, and all children receive a prize for reaching their reading goal. Family Game Night is held during March is Reading Month where families are invited to bring a game and relax with other families. Sandwich orders taken prior to event. No admission fee. No volunteers needed.
Spring Book Fair
Reading is a Celebration! The Scholastic Book Fair is held the second week of April to re-enforce the benefits of reading. Families are invited to come in and shop for books, posters, and accessories. The teachers give recommendations for good reads as well as fill out wish lists for the classrooms. All profit goes to the school libraries. Volunteers needed to organize Book Fair. Volunteers needed for set up, clean up, and man cash registers.
Family Science Night
Mad Science partners with Daycroft to bring you family science night. Explore different scientific concepts at each station in a fun, hands-on way right at Daycroft (Zeeb Campus). All materials and displays are provided by Mad Science. No admission fee. Volunteer needed to organize Science Night.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon – May
Each May to celebrate National Teachers Day, the Parent Guild hosts a formal luncheon for the teachers and staff at both campuses. Linens on tables, white china, crystal glassware, and some catered food meet the teachers when they venture into the Multi-Purpose room at Zeeb and the Teacher’s Lounge at Oakbrook. There are no expectations than for them to relax for 2 hours while parents supervise the students during lunch and recess breaks. Dishes to pass are requested of parents. Volunteers needed to organize each campus Luncheon. Volunteers needed to supervise children, and help with set up and clean up.
All parents are invited to help the children play the games for Field Day at the Zeeb Campus. Children are split up into teams based on class and spend the day playing various games in and around the school. Parents participate by instructing children how to play the game they are in charge of (written instructions at each game). Volunteers needed to lead children in games and provide supervision.
Ice Cream Social
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! In addition to ice cream, enjoy pizza, popsicles, games, and dancing in the streets. This is the last event of the school year, designed to celebrate and give back to the school's families, teachers and staff as well as neighborhood family and friends. This is not a fund-raiser, but a "break-even" event. Purchase tickets for food, drinks, and games.
Incoming Kindergarten Playgroup
>Get to know your incoming Kindergartener's classmates and their families before the first day of school. Although the group usually meets at the Bach playground, the location and schedule vary from year to year. No admission fee.
