Job Description: Function as a full time 3rd – 4th grade co-teacher at our Zeeb campus Elementary School in Ann Arbor.

Starting August 2017

Responsibilities:

  • Co-manage all aspects of the Montessori classroom with teacher partner
  • Individualize the curriculum and lessons to enhance students' learning potential
  • Provide support to students who need to be accelerated or have learning challenges
  • Maintain student records and portfolios
 

Requirements:

  • Montessori Elementary certification preferred

Full-time Learning Specialist

Job Description: Function as a full time Learning Specialist serving children preschool through 8th grade

Responsibilities:

  • Possess thorough understanding of student and parental rights under IDEA and Section 504 and how that relates to private school students.
  • Collaborate with local public and private agencies to coordinate services for students.
  • Develop 504 plans for students with documented needs.
  • Chair the Child Study Team: work collaboratively with administration, teachers, parents and students to support student development of academic, social and behavioral skills.
  • Uses formative and summative assessment and document student progress and achievement; assesses and analyzes student strengths and needs; designs and implement appropriate instruction to facilitate learning and growth.
  • Assists teachers to adjust, modify, and enrich curricular approaches to meet the needs of students with different learning needs.
  • Provide direct student support through small group and one-on-one instruction in a pull-out or classroom setting.
  • Give input to teachers regarding student Report Cards as deemed appropriate and necessary.
  • Order, sort, and distribute all standardized testing materials. Prepares materials for scoring and ships completed standardized tests.
  • Assist in the admissions process, observing potential new students and discussing student needs with prospective new families.
  • Assist admissions and administrative team in determining whether to extend a contract to current Daycroft students due to academic or social-emotional needs, and give recommendation for classroom placement.
 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Special Education or Education with endorsements in LD, Master’s preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience working with teachers and children with special needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with the administration of diagnostic testing/assessment

Aftercare Care Co-Supervisor (K-8th grade)

Job Description: Function as an Aftercare Care Co-Supervisor at our Zeeb Campus

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation and preparation of age-appropriate weekly activities.
  • Assist in the supervision of the children in assigned classroom and outside on the playground.
  • As appropriate, incorporate Montessori philosophy while teaching and interacting with students.
  • Assist to maintain attendance/sign out record sheets.
  • Accept share of responsibility for classroom operation, gathering of materials, cleaning the environment, and serving snacks.
  • Assume responsibility for an attractive and clean environment, including but not limited to: maintaining shelves, putting up bulletin boards, etc.
  • Help with set up and clean up at the end of the day, and ensuring the building is secure.

 Requirements:

  • Experience working with young children.
  • Education or childcare background preferred.
  • Background checks are required for this position.

Substitute Teacher

Substitute teachers work collaboratively with a co-teacher in a Daycroft classroom or by themselves in specials to help implement our mission: to provide a personalized learning environment which appreciates individual differences, nurtures the whole child, and enables students to develop at their own pace and achieve to their full potential.

Responsibilities

General
  • Establish effective relationships with co-teacher and students.
  • Take necessary precautions to provide safety and security of students.
  • Communicate effectively and problem-solve issues, when needed.
Classrooms
  • Assist classroom co-teacher with lessons and management of students’ work plans (K-8).
  • Provide support to students during their work period.
  • Provide supervision on playground during recess.
Specials Including Art, Library/Technology, Music, Spanish and Physical Education
  • Follow the lesson plan provided by the specials teacher.
  • Provide support to students, as needed.
Lunchroom
  • Set-up lunchroom and food.
  • Assist children with serving their food.
  • Supervise students during lunch and clean-up time.
  • Clean lunchroom dishes and kitchen when lunch is over.
After-school Care
  • Assist supervisor with setting up room.
  • Supervisor children and provide support when needed.
  • Assist with school closing procedure at the end of the day.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in education or related field
  • Montessori certification (preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communications skills
